What are cookies?
Cookies are small temporary text files stored on your computer or mobile device to ensure the proper functioning of the website. They contain information about the websites you have visited. Cookies make using the internet easier for users, for example, when logging into your user profile on a website, the browser remembers your username. Cookies are also used for other purposes, such as helping website owners gather more information about their visitors’ interests.
How do we use cookies?
SIA “SĒLIJAS MEŽS” uses Google Analytics services, which provide information about service availability in search engines. This service involves storing cookies on your device.
The cookie stores information that you have visited our website, when this happened, remembers the user’s IP address, which sections of the website were viewed. This information is transferred to Google Inc. (Ireland) and stored on Google servers (in the European Union and the USA) for 60 days. Before data is transferred to Google, IP addresses are anonymized by replacing them with a specific code assigned to each individual user.
Google guarantees that data processing, including data transfer to third parties, complies with the regulatory requirements of the European Union and the USA, and explicitly states that the received data is not used to provide Google services.
You can prevent cookies from being sent to Google by using the “Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on” (see Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on).
How to control cookies?
You can delete cookies from your computer or other device, and also use most browsers’ settings that prevent the creation of cookies.
Almost all browsers offer the possibility to:
- View and delete stored cookies;
- Block third-party cookies;
- Block cookies used by marketing websites;
- Block all cookies;
- Delete all cookies upon closing the browser.
Please note that deleting all cookies will also erase your settings on individual websites. Additionally, if you block all cookies, many websites (including ours) may not function correctly, and service delivery could be interrupted. For this reason, we do not recommend choosing the option to block all cookies.
